Microdermabrasion is a gentle, minimally invasive treatment designed to refresh and improve overall skin tone and texture. It’s an effective solution for reducing the visible effects of sun damage, fine lines, acne, and other common skin concerns.
At La Faccia Bella, we perform microdermabrasion using the advanced MegaPeel EX system. This treatment employs ultra-fine aluminum oxide crystals that are gently sprayed onto the skin and then vacuumed away, effectively exfoliating the outermost layer of dead skin cells. This process promotes faster skin cell turnover and stimulates collagen production, revealing a complexion that looks softer, smoother, brighter, and more youthful. Best of all, there’s no downtime or discomfort—just fresh, glowing skin.
"Microderm" is a very safe service to treat the following skin concerns:
- fine lines and wrinkles
- hyperpigmentation, age spots and brown spots
- enlarged pores and blackheads
- acne and acne scars
- dull-looking skin complexion
- uneven skin tone and texture
- melasma
- sun damage
To deeply exfoliate and maintain radiant, healthy skin, microdermabrasion is recommended once a month. Regular treatments can enhance the absorption and effectiveness of your creams and serums by allowing them to penetrate deeper into the skin. Additionally, microdermabrasion serves as an excellent preparatory treatment when done two weeks before a series of chemical peels, helping the peeling solutions to work more effectively.
Chemical peels involve the application of specialized exfoliating solutions designed to stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture. These peels work by allowing specific acids to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin, encouraging the natural production of collagen and elastin—helping to smooth fine lines and wrinkles without requiring significant peeling.
Most chemical peels consist of a single acid or a blend of acids such as Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA), Salicylic, Glycolic, Lactic, Azelaic, Kojic, and Mandelic acids. At La Faccia Bella, we exclusively use PCA SKIN® chemical peels—expertly formulated treatments that combine multiple acids to gently exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin. These peels are fully customizable and suitable for a wide range of skin types, including sensitive skin.
Chemical peels are effective in treating:
- fine lines and wrinkles
- hyperpigmentation, age spots and brown spots
- active acne
- acne & trauma scarring
- sun damage
- uneven skin tone and texture
- oily skin
For best results, a series of treatments spaced approximately one month apart is recommended. Contrary to the name, visible peeling isn’t always necessary to achieve noticeable improvements—many experience only mild flaking, depending on the type of peel used.
To ensure optimal results and minimize potential side effects, it's important to properly prepare your skin before undergoing a microdermabrasion or chemical peel.
Discontinue the use of retinols and exfoliating products at least 5 days before your treatment. This includes products containing tretinoin, such as Retin-A®, Differin®, Renova®, Tazorac®, Avage®, EpiDuo®, and Ziana®.
Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning products, and waxing for 7 to 10 days leading up to your appointment.
Additionally, stop using any skincare products containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), beta hydroxy acids (BHA), or peel pads 5 days prior to your treatment.
Expected Side Effects:
Microdermabrasion: Mild redness, swelling, or tenderness may occur but usually fades within a few hours.
Chemical Peels: Temporary redness, dryness, tightness, flaking, or blotchy skin can appear and typically resolve within a few days.
What to Avoid in the First 48 Hours:
• Hot showers, baths, or steam rooms
• Hair dryers near the treated area
• Swimming
• Heavy sweating or intense workouts
• Skincare products with exfoliants (like retinol, AHAs, BHAs, or acne treatments)
• Applying ice or heat to the treated skin
Sun Protection:
• Avoid direct sun exposure for 1–2 weeks after your peel
• Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) daily
• Do not use tanning beds for at least 2 weeks
Additional Tips for Healing:
• Postpone other skin treatments for at least 5 days
• Use the Post Procedure Solution kit for 3 days to support recovery
• Moisturize twice daily to maintain skin hydration
• Do not pick or peel flaking skin, as this may lead to dark spots or uneven skin tone
Microdermabrasion is a gentle and effective way to revitalize dull, dry skin—enhancing your natural glow while improving texture and tone, all at an affordable price.
Chemical peels offer customizable solutions tailored to your unique skincare needs, delivering visible improvements in clarity, smoothness, and overall complexion.
Please note: These treatments are not recommended for individuals with certain skin conditions, including skin cancer, eczema, dermatitis, or active cold sores. A consultation with your dermatologist is essential to ensure these options are right for you.
