Microdermabrasion is a mechanical exfoliation of the dead skin cells on the epidermis, encouraging more rapid skin turnover and collagen stimulation. At La Faccia Bella we use the MegaPeel EX which utilizes very fine aluminum oxide crystals that are blown onto the skin then suctioned off. This gently removes the layer of dead skin cells that are lying on top of your skin. Afterwards skin will appear softer, smoother, brighter, clearer, fresher and younger looking. This service is done with no downtime or discomfort.
For deep exfoliation and to maintain healthy and glowing skin, microdermabrasion should be done monthly. Monthly treatments can also help your creams and serums penetrate deeper in the skin, making them more effective. Microdermabrasion also works very well as the first treatment two weeks prior to a series of chemical peels to help allow for better penetration of the peeling solutions.
Chemical peels are the application of peeling solutions for a means of exfoliation, collagen stimulation, and skin retexturizing. They are great for treating fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation issues, active acne, acne scarring, and improving the overall look and texture of your skin. The acids in a chemical peel penetrate deep into the skin and stimulate collagen and elastin to help smooth fine lines and wrinkles without the need for intense peeling.
Chemical peels are typically a single acid or combination of acids such as Trichloroacetic acid, Salicylic, Glycolic, Lactic, Azelaic, Kojic and Mandelic acid. La Faccia Bella only uses the expertly formulated chemical peels a from PCA SKIN®.
Peels are most effective in a series of treatments spaced about one month apart. Despite the name, you do not have to peel in order to have a good result from a chemical peel. For many the peeling/flaking is more subtle depending on the peel, and many of our peels include the PCA SKIN Post Procedure Solution to aid in post treatment skin care.
A series of 6 treatments is recommended for optimum results, with 3-4 weeks in between for skin to recover.
Avoid saunas & steam for 24-48 hours & sun exposure for at least 72 hours after treatment.
Microdermabrasion IS NOT recommended if you have skin conditions such as rosacea, eczema, dermatitis, active sunburn, herpes, lupus, open sores, psoriasis, fragile capillaries or widespread acne. Seek medical advice first.
