Pre-Peel Skin Preparation Tips

Pre-Peel Skin Preparation Tips

  • It is recommended to delay the use of tretinoin; Retin-A®, Differin®, Renova®, Tazorac®, Avage®, EpiDuo®, or Ziana® 5 days PRIOR to any chemical peel.
  • Avoid extended sun exposure 10 days prior to treatment.
  • For best results, it is recommended that you use PCA SKIN daily care products 10-14 days prior to treatment.
  • If you are lactating, pregnant or may be pregnant, consult your OB/GYN before receiving any treatment.
  • After receiving a chemical peel you should not necessarily expect to “peel” however, light flaking in a few localized areas for several days is typical. Residual redness may last for approx. 1 - 12 hours post-peel.

  • It is recommended that makeup not be applied the day of treatment; it is ideal to allow the skin to stabilize and rest overnight; however, makeup may be applied 15 min. after the treatment if desired.
  • To minimize side effects and maximize results; use the Post Procedure Solution kit for 3-5 days.
  • Moisturizer should be applied twice a day.
  • Topical, over-the-counter medications, or alpha hydroxy acid products should not be applied to the skin 7 days post-procedure.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure and excessive heat. Use a Broad Spectrum SPF 30 or higher for protection.
  • Do not go to a tanning bed for at least 2 weeks post-procedure.
  • Do not pick or pull on any loosening or peeling skin. This could potentially cause hyperpigmentation.
